What NYC Recessionista Wears: Burgundy stripes

Yesterday’s outfit was all about my new skirt. The fact that it looks pretty polished — but is still comfortable — is perfect for me when I have one of those long days at the office.

I just purchased this chambray shirt from Uniqlo, and I was reminded 1) how nice the store is, and 2) that I should get basics there more often.  This is actually a tunic, so it’s a lot longer than it seems.

Next time I wear this, it’ll probably be with skinny pants or leggings. And it even has side pockets!  Tres casual.

When I first saw this skirt, I really loved the center panel with the contrasting stripe. But, I was a little hesitant because it was a knit skirt — sometimes, they can be completely shapeless on me.

So I waited and waited and waited for it to go on sale, and then pounced 🙂 And I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it on – the fit is really nice.

And one of my favorite things to do is to pair something ladylike (a pencil skirt) with something tough and edgy (motorcycle boots). It’s unexpected and fun!
