NYC Recessionista Roundups: 2016 Golden Globe Awards

Last night the Golden Globes kicked off the awards show season, and the fashion did not disappoint. There were a ton of gorgeous looks, but these were the ones that caught my eye.

Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton … the simple yet totally sexy back of this dress was especially striking to me … and I thought her hair, makeup and jewelry were totally on point.

Cate Blanchett in Givenchy Haute Couture … again, I think I totally loved the back of this dress even more than the front! And while the fringe is a bit much in addition to all of the other details going on, I don’t think anyone could pull off a dress like this quite like Cate can.

Jenna Dewan-Tatum in Zuhair Murad … love the colors, love the sparkles, love the pockets.

Calista Flockhart in Andrew Gn … she’s not much of a red carpet attention-seeker anymore (in fact, I didn’t even see her during the red carpet coverage, but I caught a glimpse of this dress later on during the night and was swooning. Partly because it looks like something you could buy at Anthropologie. The boho chick in me loves it. That color.

Jaimie Alexander in Genny … from head to toe, this was one of the most stunning looks of the night for me. This was styled absolutely perfectly. LOVE her makeup, jewelry and hair.

Laverne Cox in Elizabeth Kennedy … Laverne is SLAYING IT here. That dress is so glamorous and fits her sooooo well. Love the styling, too.

Melissa Benoist in Monique Lhuillier … I know a lot of people hated this dress (especially the print), but I LOVED IT. Again, the boho flower child in me just loves a good vintage floral on the red carpet, and I know that’s a controversial opinion. I love that the styling is also perfectly in line with the dress.

Rachel McAdams in Lanvin … this abstract floral print is sooooo pretty on her, even if the crinkling of the fabric is a little odd. Styling is great, though. I think she always looks great and last night was no exception. Allie Hamilton forever.

Saoirse Ronan in Yves Saint Laurent … GODDESS.

Amber Heard in Gucci Couture … this makes my list of favorites just based on the dreamy fabric and the neckline alone.
Maggie Gyllenhaal in Marc Jacobs … she’s ready to go straight from the awards show to a party at Jay Gatsby’s house and I want to go with her.

Zendaya in Marchesa … you know you have magical powers when you can look so fierce in ruffles like that. She’s a red carpet unicorn.
