What NYC Recessionista Wears: Reality Bites

Yesterday, I felt a lot like I could’ve starred in Reality Bites …

… I had the floral dress, the opaque tights and the boots like I was straight out of 1994 … the only thing I needed was some dirty hair and cigarette, which I think I’ll leave to them.

Normally, a floral print is the last thing you would think of as being grungy 90s … but when it’s against black, it completely changes the whole look and feel of the pattern. And if it’s very tiny flowers, then it instantly feels 90s.

I couldn’t gone super “emo” and worn a black cardigan with this, too, but I figured I would give the outfit just a touch of a spring feel by throwing a light gray cardigan on instead.  And the brown belt (as opposed to the black one that came with the dress) wakes it up a little, too.

Yet another thing that I love about this dress? It has pockets …
