Simple and chic hairdo

Yesterday morning when I was on the subway heading into work (listening to the new Justin Timberlake album, by the way), I looked up and noticed this girl standing with her back to me. And the first thing I noticed was her incredibly chic hairdo, which probably took all of 10 minutes to do.

Without having a chance to ask her how she did it (I had to get off at the next stop and barely had time to snap this photo!), here’s how I am assuming she did it:

1) Have lots of bobby pins and some hairspray on hand!

2) Pick whichever part you like (side or middle … althought I am thinking a side part would look really nice with this particular hairdo;

3) Plan to grab three different 1 1/2 inch wide sections of hair in the front of your head — one on each side above your ears and the third half-way between your ear and where your center part would be;

4) Begin with the section that’s half-way between your ear and where your center part would be (looking at where the sections are pinned on the back of her head, I am assuming she did this section first) and twist the section upwards, pulling it back and securing it with two bobby pins in a criss-cross formation;

5) Grab the sections on each side above your ears next and twist them, pinning them back the same way, so all three sections meet in the middle in the back of your head. Be sure to pin each section down with two bobby pins in the criss-cross formation, as this helps secure it.

Spray with some hairspray, and voila!  A chic and easy Monday morning hairdo … what do you think?
