NYC Recessionista Roundup: spring jackets

Each spring, I realize that I am woefully unprepared when it comes to having the right mix of spring jackets.  I don’t actually own a raincoat (I know), I frequently find myself either too warm or too cold and I don’t always feel like I have the right style jacket to go with my outfit.

If you find yourself feeling the same way, then perhaps this little jacket roundup will help enlighten you on the hottest jackets for this spring. There’s something for each mood, taste and occasion 🙂

First up — the anorak.
This jacket is pretty much perfect for the weekends … trips to the flea market, the park, the grocery store … you name it.  But an added benefit is that they’re great for those April showers. And we’ve even seen brands like J. Crew styling sporty anoraks with skirts and dresses … so have fun with it.

Next — the always classic trench.
Of course if you have a classic trench coat in camel or black, feel free to wear that sucker for the rest of your life. But, I would also advise taking a look a what’s new in trenches — bold colors, stripes, patterns and necklines.

And last but certainly not least — the field / utility / fatigue jacket.
Whatever the heck you want to call them, they have a distinct look and feel. They’re casual but polished. This jacket is probably more versatile than you’d think, depending on the material and the fit. Look for special details like a cinched waist or leather trim.
