Butterfly belt

I kinda want this dress ... if only for the vintage-y looking butterfly belt that comes with it.

NYCR Picks from the September 2010 Magazines

I can't believe it's October and I'm just now getting around to sharing my September picks with you ... I guess that's what happens when you go off and get married. Anyway, I'm sorry for being a delinquent blogger!

With out further ado, here are my picks from the September issues --

From Lucky:

This wool beret from American Apparel -- a perfect fall hat, like Cher in Clueless :)

This Ann Taylor wrap sweater is actually a really versatile piece

I think everyone should have a long black blazer - like this one from Express - in their wardrobe

I am definitely looking forward to seeing the Meredith Kahn for meet mark. collection when it comes out in November ...

I absolutely love this gray fedora ... and the black band

I've already told you about how much I love this pocket watch necklace ... here it is again!

I am completely in love with these bow flats ... just adorable.

These t-strap heels from Naturalizer look so prim and proper, yet the stacked wooden heel gives them a fun vintage vibe.

I know this sleeveless silk dress is a little on the pricey side, but wow -- what a beautiful retro silhouette.

From Glamour:

The Temple St. Clair line at Target is adorable, and this quirky charm necklace is probably one of my favorite pieces

I love the hammered look of this ring, and of course the bold stone ...

This cotton jersey blazer is completely genius -- a soft, comfy fabric yet it still has structure.

Lots of goodies from Santa's sleigh

Santa (and my friends and family) were very good to me this year ... just wanted to share some of my loot with y'all :)

1) Some Bare Escentuals All Over Face Color (the shade is called "True") and some Bare Radiance ... two of my favorite beauty products ... I bought these two for myself :)

2) My secret santa, who turned out to be Kevin :) got me a gift card so I can pick out a new charm for my Pandora bracelet.

3) One of my besties got me this hammered metal round-link bracelet from the mark. line at Avon ... love it!

4) She also got me this great vintage-y looking cap sleeve dress, also from the mark. line at Avon ... can't wait to wear it!

Here's a close-up shot of the pattern--

5) She also got me this gorgeous eye shadow compact from Stila ... love the mother of pearl design, it's totally art deco. Something you'll want to keep long after you've used up all the shadow.

And here's what the shades look like-- can't wait to try out that blue!

6) Lastly, I haven't lived at home in years, yet I still have a stocking at my parents' house, and to this day my mom still fills it with goodies. Here's a box of notecards for me to keep up on my correspondence.

She also gave me that cool Scotch pop-up tape dispenser and wrapping paper cutter since I am very easily amused by stuff like that ... oh and a keepsake Christmas ornament of a diamond ring, so I'd always have one from the year I got engaged :)

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!

Avon calling . . .

For the last week, I have done a test drive of several items from Avon's fall line. I want to say that this is not your mother's Avon, but to be honest, it probably is your mother's Avon-- a true value brand that offers quality makeup at a very affordable price-point.

The Smooth Minerals Blush is light and airy, as is the foundation and the bronzer.

I also tried the True Color Eyeshadow Quad, of which the plum purple was definitely my favorite.

The SuperCurlacious Mascara lengthens and flips my lashes out pretty well without making them feel crusty or hard, so kudos on that.

I'm not really a lipstick fan at all (I have been carrying around Burt's Bees lip balm for as long as I can remember), but the Smooth Minerals Lipsticks are very creamy and almost feel like a lip balm -- no dryness. Malted Mineral and Plum Craze are great shades.

I love eyeliners with the built in sponge on one end that you can smudge with, like this Kohl eyeliner has, but I am sort of clumsy with eyeliner, so I usually prefer a cream eyeliner to a pencil.

Their Nocturnal nail color is also totally chic for fall -- in person to me it actually looks like a cross between a green and a beige and a brown...I love it.

I really wanted to post some pics of me actually wearing the makeup (which I am wearing today!) but they came out looking totally strange and silly-- close-ups of your eyeballs are never good. Anyway, all in all there are some great options here with Avon -- and at fantastic prices. I would definitely recommend trying some of them out for yourself!
