What NYC Recessionista Wears: Penny Chic by Shauna Miller

So … one of the reasons I love IFB Conference so much is that you never know who you’re going to meet.  On day one of the conference, while chatting with the fellow bloggers in between panels, I met Shauna Miller of the blog Penny Chic.  And I quickly discovered that not only is she a fellow bargain shopping enthusiast, but she has a line of dresses coming out this week at Wal-mart. So insanely cool to think that a blogger is doing a line.

She completely shocked me, too, when she handed me one of the dresses to try out!  When I got home, I instantly tried it on.  The material is soft, the dress is very comfy, and it’s pretty much an effortless little black dress.

One of the special little touches I like is that the back scoops down just a little bit lower than the front.  Just enough for a glimpse of my tattoo 🙂

The other great thing about this dress is the lace cap sleeve … if you want to wear it to work, you can throw a cardigan and belt over it.  But if you want to turn around and wear it out at night, the lace detail is the perfect dressy touch.
This dress is definitely going to become a staple of my wardrobe.

The darts in the front are really great, too.

I’m wearing The Skater dress, which is one of five different styles. And aside from the fact that all of the dresses are classic silhouettes, cost only $20 each, are machine-washable and wrinkle-free … they’re made in the U.S.A.!

Here’s a look at the collection:

I highly recommend that you look for Shauna’s dress line at Wal-mart when it comes out this month!
