Weekend Wants

Here are some things I'd love for this weekend ... a.k.a. my Weekend Wants.

 1) To relax ... I'm so glad that it's a long holiday weekend.  We don't have any fancy plans, so we're just going to relax and enjoy the last lazy weekend of summer. 

 I can't wait until it's fall in the Hudson Valley ... 


2) To put the finishing touches on my new blog design ... what do you think of the new look so far?

 3) To do some blogging ... while it felt nice to take a break from blogging, I really missed it!

 It would be pretty sweet to have a home office like this to blog from -- 


4) To figure out what to wear ... to the two blogging conferences I'm going to next week. Eeeek!

 I'm thinking of wearing this dress to one of them --

Weekend Wants.

Here are some things I'd love for this weekend ... a.k.a. my Weekend Wants.

1) To sleep ... I am flat out exhausted. It has been a crazy week, so I am looking forward to accumulating some much needed zzz's this weekend.






2) T0 read my September issues ... I've got three juicy September issues sitting in my living room that I haven't been able to crack open yet, so I'm looking forward to reading those :)

 3) To do some cooking ... Roasting peppers on the weekends has become a bit of a tradition lately.  They sure do stink up the apartment but my husband loves them :)

 4) To watch some movies ... When I really want to relax and veg out, I love watching sugary romantic comedies. The Wedding Date is one of my favorites.

 5) To use my new camera ... I'd love to go out and take some photos with my new camera. And I'm hoping eventually get into regular outfit posts :)

Well folks, I'm entering the next chapter of my life today ... I'm turning the big 3-0.

Honestly, I am so excited to be turning 30.  I feel like no one really takes you seriously or considers you to be an adult until you're out of your 20s ... it's funny. And I've been told that your 30s is one of the best times of your life. So, I say bring. it. on.

And while I'm celebrating today, y'all can count the number of totally 80s things going on in this photo from my 4th birthday party :)

Tuesday Tunes

It's time for this week's edition of Tuesday Tunes. 

 This is definitely in the top 5 for me in terms of favorite songs of all time. There's just something about it that makes me smile. 

In fact, this song was what helped me decide where to go to college. When I was a senior in high school and taking a tour of Pace University with my mom, we sat down in the campus center to have lunch. As soon as I started to eat my lunch, this song came on over the sound system. It was telling me to stay for awhile, so I did.

My dad

Today, I'm celebrating my dad's birthday ... the older I get, the more I realize just how much I take after him. And to think, I was born just days after his 32nd birthday -- and I'll be 30 very soon.

 And just like with my mom, as an adult I love being able to hang out with my dad even more. It's cool -- and not at all dorky, like you might've thought when you were 14 -- to be friends with your parents :)

 Happy Birthday to the best dad a girl could ask for!

Weekend Wants

Here are some things I'd love for this weekend ... a.k.a. my Weekend Wants.

 1) To celebrate ... this weekend is my dad's birthday, so we're heading upstate tomorrow for a birthday lunch for both my dad and me (mine is next week). I'm really looking forward to seeing my family ...

 2) To do some blogging ... I'm working on a really fun guest post for the blog J. Crew Review, so stay tuned for that!  And, in mid-September, I'll be doing a third guest blog post for ElizabethBanks.com!

3) To watch some trashy television ... I'll admit it. I watch Jerseylicious on The Style Network. It's tacky, ridiculous and mindlessly entertaining. The reunion special is airing on Sunday night and I'll be watching. 

 4) To get some new shoes ... I tried these on at Clarks the other day, and I am completely in love with both pairs.  Perhaps I'll get some birthday money I can use to buy them :)
