Recap of #IFBCon

Greetings, lovelies … hope you’re week is going well (yay, short work week)!

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending the Independent Fashion Bloggers (IFB) Conference at 82 Mercer Street in SoHo.

Before I left my apartment, I managed to wrangle my husband to take one super quick photo of me … I’ve got to find a better backdrop for outfit photos ๐Ÿ™‚

It was my second time attending #IFBCon, and again I enjoyed myself, met some really cool bloggers, and came home with so much swag that my arms are killing me.

If you follow me on Twitter, then you might have seen some of the nuggets / takeaways that I was posting throughout the day. Here are some of the gems:

“I’m so proud to be a part of this movement” … “We’re all part of the fashion industry now.”

“Customers, consumers and influencers are driving the conversation online.”

“Online and viral videos are where the future of advertising is headed.”

“YOU are a huge asset to all the brands out there.”

“They want YOU to bring their products alive” and “infuse yourself into it as much as possible.”

Bloggers have higher level of engagement w/audience than major media sites, especially in emerging markets.”

“The future of adv is all about it NOT looking like it’s advertising … it’s all about integrated content.”

“There is an art to blogging and building a community.”

“The bottom line is authenticity.” (Re: working w/brands) “It has to be an authentic fit.”

“If you want it [your blog] to grow as a business, you have to treat it like one.”

“If it’s a special feature that you’ve crafted around a brand or product, then maybe you should be compensated for that.”

“As the industry grows, there will be greater opportunities to monetize content more easily.”

The panels were really great, but the highlight of my day had to be when I hit the Bare Minerals booth. Y’all know that I have been a loyal fan of the brand for 6+ years now … but today I actually got the chance to talk to someone from corporate (she was so nice!) and I received a free make-under and tons of goodies.

They were introducing their new Ready Foundation — it feels heavenly

And their new Stroke of Light eye brightener made my dark under eye circles totally disappear

I even tried bronzer for the first time — and am no longer terrified of it ๐Ÿ™‚

I think out of everything I received, I am most jazzed about the new brush they developed to go with their new foundation — the Precision Face Brush.  It’s honestly the most luxurious makeup brush I’ve ever felt on my face.

Tons of girls getting make-unders

It was definitely the hit of the conference!

And last night when I got home, I sprawled out on my couch and oogled all of the goodies I received ๐Ÿ™‚

On Wednesday and Thursday, I’ll be at Lucky Magazine’s LuckyFABB Conference — I am so excited!
