NYCR Picks from the September 2011 Magazines - InStyle

Continuing along with the fatter-than-heck September issues ...

From InStyle:

Absolutely adore this color block dress ... so beautifully mod.

These pyramid stud earrings are equal parts glam and bad ass.

Seeing a striped sweater like this always reminds me of Jean Seberg.

I would never think of pairing orange and navy up for a handbag ... but this just works.

These riding boots are great ... flat but with just a hint of a heel, a rich brown, and with just the right amount of detailing.

When I think of the crispness of fall ... I think of glen plaid blazers just like this one.

If I were going back to school -- and I wish I was -- I would want this twill handbag.

Nothing like a giant and graphic exaggerated herringbone print ... love this blouse.

NYCR Picks from the September 2011 Magazines - Glamour

Since the September issues are so massive, I've decided to break up this month's NYCR Picks into multiple posts.

First up -- Glamour:

I love this orange pea coat ... reminds me of the orange one that Audrey Hepburn wore in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Good lord these brown leather gloves are gorgeous ... so very luxe-looking.

These patent flats are the absolute perfect shade of dark teal ... and I love the contrasting toe.

I like the fact that this quilted bag, which at first glance looks dressy, is made more casual by the nylon cross-body strap. Would be a perfect weekend bag.

You'd never know it just passing this super quirky ruffled dress on the street, but if you look closely, the pattern is made up of tiny little bears.

I could easily see pairing this mossy green shirt with dark denim skinny jeans, flats, and minimalist yellow gold jewelry.

Coming soon . . .

... all of my picks from inside the crisp, glossy pages of these pieces of heaven, a.k.a. the September issues.

Rust skirt

This new corduroy skirt from NY and Company is the perfect shade of rust ... somewhere in between orange and red, and completely rich.

Storm shopping

This past weekend, while I was bored to tears during Hurricane Irene, I passed the time looking for a new watch. I wanted something really timeless and classic looking. And I didn't want a watch that was going to break the bank.

After doing a lot of browsing, I went with this Timex Easy Reader with a woven brown leather strap.

This is such a cute dress ... love the icy gray color, the touch of bling with the brooch, and the flattering on pretty much everybody silhouette.

The price tag isn't bad, either.

Diary of a Princess at NY and Company

Have you seen this homage to Kate Middleton at NY & Company? Not sure what to make of it, but it's interesting.

Bad girl at J. Crew

Last week, I was a very bad girl at J. Crew ... well, not really that bad I suppose. I could have been much worse.

First, I picked up this pencil skirt in this amazing green, because I completely fell in love with it at first sight. I've already established about 10 different things already in my closet that I want to pair it with.

Then, I couldn't resist picking up a new pair of Minnie Pants in black (think Audrey Hepburn).

Then, I fell in love with this lightweight gray wool sweater. I think I'll actually pair this with the green skirt, too.

And as if that wasn't bad enough, then I fell in love with two more things ... this scarf -- the photo doesn't do its cobalt blue color justice. And I love the ikat pattern.

And this iPhone case -- the design on my case is a bit different from this, and so far I love it.

NYCR Picks from the August 2011 Magazines

Before I dive right into the wonderful September issues that have been arriving at my door, I wanted to share what caught my eye from the August issues.

From Lucky (which I completely loved this month with Christina Hendricks on the cover):

Old Navy really has stepped it up in the shoe department ... these wedges are really cute, and I love the fatigues green color.

I love the look of this bolero from the Christina Hendricks feature ... it's so retro glam, just like her.

I'm not sure what I love more about this blouse -- the stormy gray hue, the dainty polka dots, or the cascading ruffles. It all just works.

From People StyleWatch:

This dress is a great color -- the perfect shade of cranberry. And the drapey cut forgives a multitude of sins.

I love the square neckline of this dress .... and the pattern, and the cut, and even the risqué back.

This cocktail ring is the perfect cobalt blue color ... and just big enough to make a statement.

From InStyle:

These ballet flats would be totally perfect for work ... a neutral color, some sheen, a ladylike bow, and just a touch of bling.

I think this might be the perfect late summer, early fall dress -- 3/4 sleeves, a nautical feel, and t-shirt comfort.

And if that's the perfect late summer dress, then this might be the perfect late summer t-shirt ... I love the mustard-y yellow.
