Alloy has extended its 20% off Memorial Day sale for two more days ... you can now take 20% off your entire order through Wednesday June 2nd ... simply enter code BEACH20 at checkout.
Personally, I'd use it to stock up on their effortless summer dresses--

Just a friendly reminder or two ...
Today's the last day to take an extra 40% off all sale items at Ann Taylor, both in stores and online when you enter code SALE40 at checkout.
It's also the last day to take 40% off your entire purchase at LOFT, both in stores and online when you enter code 40SAVE at checkout.
I am thinking we're definitely going to have to incorporate some burlap elements into our wedding ... I know I previously blogged about how much I love bunting with touches of burlap, but now I am thinking it would also look great on our tables ... just check out this table runner featured on Style Me Pretty.
(Image courtesy of Carrie Patterson Photography)
Burlap is such an inexpensive fabric to work with, but it adds a great texture!
We've already decided that we want to do chocolate brown tablecloths, with wooden bushel baskets of gala apples in them as the centerpieces, but I think layering it with a square of burlap for the baskets to rest on would just add that little something extra special to the tables, don't you think?
This holiday weekend only at Gap, you can take 25% off your (online only) regular-price purchase of $75 or more when you enter code GAPSUMMER at checkout. And you can also get free shipping when you spend $100 or more. Offer is good through Monday May 31st at Gap.com.
All sandals are on sale at Famous Footwear -- some with discounts of up to 50% off. This includes flat sandals, wedges, espadrilles, and even strappy high heel sandals.
I love how, when you're scanning on their site, you can easily see what kind of discount you're looking at for each shoe (10%, 25%, 50% and so on) like so:
This weekend only, Crabtree & Evelyn is offering free shipping on your order of $40 or more when you enter code SMILE40 at checkout.
Personally, I love their Citron collection ... anything with lemon in it can't be bad.
Banana Republic is having a one-day sale --- all regular-priced items are 30% off when you enter code ONEDAY30 at checkout. You also get free shipping on orders of $100 or more. This offer is online only and it ends at 11:59 p.m. ET tonight.
Be sure to check out these summer essentials from LOFT, all of which are $25 and under ...
You can't beat easy breezy pieces like this knit empire waist dress ... love the girly shoulder ties! ... and it's only $25!

I noticed this month how skinny the magazines are getting ... do you ever notice how much they slim down in the months before September? I love that sense of anticipation before you get those September issues that will barely fit in your mailbox :)
Anyway, there were a bunch of goodies that I noticed in my magazines this month:
This gold locket looks like a piece that could be passed down from generation to generation. I would love to put a childhood photo of my sister and I in there :)
This new line of bras from Maidenform is absolutely genius -- bras that have such beautiful straps, you'll want them to peek out from underneath your tank top straps and sleeveless dresses this summer. It's not even available yet, but I would definitely sign up for the emails to be notified when it's available, because I'm sure it's going to sell out.
I love the cheery shade of this skinny belt, and of course the rosette.
This floral cotton dress is the perfect summer date night dress .... throw it on with some strappy sandals and a cardigan in case it gets chilly out later, and you're good to go. And it has pockets.
I saw someone wearing a sleeveless cardigan like this the other day, layered over this really boho maxi-dress and cinched with a belt ... it was brilliant.

These crystal elastic bracelets are the perfect accessory for the summertime -- bright, easy to wear, and they're just enough of a pop of color to mix in with neutrals.
The stitching on this sandal has such an American Indian flair to it, without being all crazy with fringe or beading.
I love that this animal print blouse can work double duty --- it's chic enough for work, but casual enough for the weekend ... just depends on how you dress it.
My obsession with all things rosettes continues with this skirt ... and the fact that it has a nice wide elastic waistband is frankly just icing on the cake.

From Real Simple:
I am completely enamored by this calendar bracelet and I really, really want one ... ideally one with my upcoming wedding date on it.

These gladiator sandals are such a perfect complement to a really feminine outfit, like a floral print dress.

For this week's Inspiration Board, I wanted to take a look at a few things that will undeniably be a part of our wedding, especially given where it's taking place and the time of year--
1) Windmills ...
2) Weathervanes ...
3) Apples ...
4) Hayrides and pumpkins ...
5) Farm animals ...
(All images courtesy of Flickr)
We're taking these things and incorporating them into a few different aspects of our wedding -- the invitations, the decor, the tables, etc. .... and it makes it a lot more fun. High impact but low cost!
I went to the Madewell web site tonight to see what was new, and found this page with a promising message--
Good lord ... Madewell fans have been waiting for this FOREVER.
Here's hoping they don't keep us waiting too much longer.
H&M has a great collaboration starting again today for their Fashion Against AIDS campaign -- they'll be donating 25% of sales to HIV / AIDS awareness projects when you shop from the special collection of merch.
My mom and sister are giving me little to no information about my bridal shower. My mom even says "Oh, you're getting a shower?!" whenever it comes up in conversation. I am totally fine with not knowing anything about it ... after all, that's one of the joys in being in a wedding party -- getting to torment the bride-to-be -- but I would at least like to know what weekend so that I don't show up in jeans looking like something the cat dragged in.
Well, hopefully I will at least have some idea of roughly when it's taking place, because I just found a great dress today :)
I went into LOFT this afternoon to take advantage of their Summer Style Event and I couldn't resist this dress when I saw it. It's the perfect mix of preppy and bohemian, which I love. The photo doesn't even do it justice, because the skirt is a beautiful textured metallic. Oh and I love me some pockets.
AND it was 30% off so I only paid like $60 for it! I guess I will be stowing this puppy in my overnight bag all summer just in case.
There's been an explosion of adorable dresses at Forever 21 all of a sudden!
Here are my faves:

You might have noticed that there's a new button on the right side of my blog ... well, I'm thrilled to announce that The Knot has asked me to be a blogger bride on on their site! I'll be part of The Knottie Diaries, a blog authored by a few brides-to-be as they each share their adventures in wedding planning.
I will still be blogging here at A Recessionista Ties The Knot, but starting tomorrow all of my posts will also be fed to the blog there, too. I'll be featured as 'The Recessionista Bride' over there.
I have been slightly obsessed with The Knot for a long time -- way before I was engaged for sure -- so this is a real honor to have been asked to contribute as a blogger for the next few months.
I'm so excited, and I can't wait to see my posts up there!

I'm kind of digging the Jessie cotton dress, among other things.

***Note that the discount doesn't apply to some of their specialty items / collections like the Timex watches, Fenton / Fallon for J. Crew, etc. but applies to their regular merch.
I was walking through H&M tonight for the first time in a long while, and I *think* I might be outgrowing it. Lately for some reason I just feel too old to be shopping in there, like I used to feel when I would walk into Forever 21.
I am not sure when this transition happened, but it used to be one of my favorite places to go to get trendy pieces for cheap, and now I just feel totally blah whenever I go in there. Anyone else feeling like this?
For a limited time only, LOFT is taking an extra 30% off their sale items right now, both in stores and online when you enter code SALE30 at checkout.
When I saw this sale, I definitely wanted to snag some of my favorite items when I saw this email ... here's what I just purchased:
I have been so busy over the last month with work that I barely even had ample time to read through all my favorite magazines for this month! In fact, I am saving all of my June issues for my plane ride to Nashville this weekend for a work trip.
Anyway, the May issues of my regular reads were chock full of cute spring items ---
From Lucky Magazine:
This anchor link bracelet is exactly as they described it: "euro luxe" ... makes me want to hop a plane to Capri and sip bellinis on a boat.

I really do love Timex watches (so does my fiance!) and the T-Series Chronograph is a great example of their classic style.
This striped shirtdress looks like such an easy piece to throw on, yet it doesn't look schlumpy.
This CleanWell Hand Sanitizer has to be one of my favorite product discoveries of the last year. It smells like a creamsicle and cleans your hands without harsh, drying alcohol.
(Image courtesy of Bath & Body Works)
This straw tote is totally adorable ... love the shape, the navy, the nautical accents, and the preppy vibe.
From Glamour Magazine:
When hair accessories look like vintage pieces of jewelry with a story to tell, I'm on board. This crystal hair comb fits the bill.
I've had my eye on this ikat print one-shoulder dress for quite some time-- a great pick if you are pear-shaped!
Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue is probably one of my all-time favorite perfumes -- it has the perfect hint of Sicilian Lemons ... yum.
From Real Simple Magazine:
I love the pop of orange on these wedges ... and the cork gives them a real summery feel.
I am slightly obsessed with this leaf ring -- I could totally see wearing it to my wedding.

I'm not usually a huge fan of madras but this blouse is totally Taos chic.

I think that this is a serious statement bracelet, and I love that it's made out of tagua nuts.
