J.Crew is taking an extra 30% off their sale items (online only) when you enter code EXTRA30 at checkout. Offer is good up until 12 midnight on April 1st. They're also offering free shipping on orders of $150 or more.
I think I may have to pounce on some items.
Summer B wants me to answer some questions ... and when there's an opportunity for a fun little Q&A on a rainy day, you take it :)
1) What book are you reading?
Sadly, I am not reading a book right now. The last book I read was The Fixer Upper by one of my favorite authors -- Mary Kay Andrews.
Love all of her books.
2) Where do you wish you could be right now?
If I could literally be anywhere on this craptastic weather day, I would love to go back to my favorite oasis in Cabo. Best. Vacation. Ever.
3) What does your mousepad look like?
I don't have one right now (going au naturelle) but my favorite mousepad of all time would have to be the one my bff bought me many moons ago.
...I'm doin' fine, baby-- how you doin'?
4) If you wanted to and you could quit your job without consequence, what would you say?
Fortunately, I have a job that I absolutely love.
5) How will you make your dreams come true?
6) Favorite Halloween costume ever?
When I was a little Met ... and my sister was a little Strawberry Shortcake.
(Images courtesy of NYC Recessionista)
7) Favorite song from back in the day?
Ooooh ... this is a tough one. But, if I had to pick one ...
8) One thing you could change about you?
My willpower ... can't seem to stick to an exercise plan or a diet. Ever.

Fred Flare is supposed to be the place you go for a hamburger phone or bacon band-aids ... so how is it that they continue to stock some of the most feminine, flirty clothing I've seen in a long time? It's a beautiful mystery ... here are some of my favorite pieces they've added lately:
The cropped Whitney Ruffle Blazer -- looks totally J. Crew-esque and yet it's under $60!
The floral Watercolor Tube Dress -- the flowers almost have a hint of ikat to them, no?
The gingham I Heart You Dress -- that heart-shaped cut-out is completely adorable.
The Swan Lake Mini Skirt -- reminds me of Carrie Bradshaw's ensemble from the opening sequence of SATC ...
The voile lace Mariana Dress -- I just love lace overlays and the unfinished detail at the bottom.

Gap Body was one of the first brands to really step it up in the loungewear department, and now much to my enjoyment, LOFT has followed suit.
I love mixing some loungewear pieces into my regular wardrobe sometimes -- it makes me feel just a little bit more comfy and cozy ... and what I love about loungewear pieces is that many of them are being designed to look dressier than they are!
Case in point, this cowl neck pullover --
So check out their loungewear line, and in case you see anything you like, their full-priced loungewear pieces are 25% off right now, no code necessary.
... try saying that five times fast.
Real Simple is one of my favorite magazines, so naturally I love the Daily Finds on their web site -- like this collection of figure-flattering floral dresses, arranged by body type.
My favorite would of course be this 1960s-looking number from Urban Outfitters, perfect if you're busty.
I don't know about you, but this time of year, I get obsessed with lotions and perfumes ... it's back to full-time leg shaving season haha, and it's the time of year when you start digging out from your winter funk and making sure your legs and toes and hands and nails look all pretty, right?
Anyway, Bath & Body Works has some good discounts going on this week to get you into great beauty shape for spring --
1) Free shipping on any order of $60 or more when you enter code FREESHIP60 at checkout
2) Their signature collection is buy 2 get 1 free or buy 3 get 2 free ... so you can stock up
3) Their anti-bac (a must-have in my purse at all times) is 4 for $15 or 6 for $20 ... so you can stay germ free and fresh
Right now at LOFT, select spring sweaters are on sale for $20 (originally $40-$50). This offer is available for a limited time, so get it while the gettin's good.
My personal fave is the totally versatile v-neck cardigan in coastal fog --

I love beauty products ... funny thing is, I am not always a bargain shopper when it comes to this stuff. I love to experiment with different things from time to time and find new favorites. And if I find something that's really good, I will splurge on it a little.
So, I thought it would be fun to give y'all a glimpse of what's actually in my medicine cabinet and what's in my shower -- you'll notice it's an interesting mix of drugstore and high-end products.
Shower Gel --
I am on my third bottle of this stuff ... the smell is intoxicating. I literally want to drink it. But I won't.

Face Products --
I know this stuff is a little on the expensive side, but I feel like nothing has ever made my skin look or feel better. I have extremely dry skin, and I love that you can search products by skin condition on Kiehl's web site.
Kiehl's Ultra Moisturizing Cream Cleanser, Supremely Gentle Eye Makeup Remover, and Ultra Facial Moisturizer

I have tried several other deodorants, and this one is the only formula that keeps razor burn at bay. It's great stuff. And the smell is amazing, which is why I bought the matching body spray.

Hair Products --
I tried this on a whim one day (I had been a fan of their Skin Relief moisturizer for the wintertime) and I'm now on my second bottle. Leaves my hair silky and shiny.

With curly hair, you want to make sure your hair won't frizz the second you walk outside ... which is why I use this conditioner. It leaves my hair incredibly soft, without the poof.
I equally love their Spiral Style Curl Defining Spray Gel ... hands down makes the perfect spiral curls.
(Images courtesy of John Frieda)
I love all things citrusy ... you've probably noticed a pattern here already. This perfume is no exception ... it has the perfect clean scent. The main notes are lychee and pink grapefruit, so you can understand how.
This toothpaste has the greatest clean & minty taste to it ... and I love the retro-looking packaging.

Body Products --
Every time I use these two products, I instantly feel like I'm 6 years only, and I'm on line at Lemon Ice King. Simply delicious.

If you're ever standing in front of your closet in the morning, wondering which pieces to pair with each other to make an interesting outfit, you might want to check out Lucky's collection of a month's worth of outfits ... great ideas to inspire you!
H&M recently released images of its new Garden Collection -- it's made with environmentally adapted materials like recycled polyester, organic cotton, and organic linen.
I'm on board with the cotton and the linen, but seeing as how I didn't enjoy polyester too much the first time around, I am not so sure I'd love it in a recycled state. Will have to check this collection out in stores and really look at it and feel it ... I've become somewhat of a fabric whore lately.
If you're a regular reader of this blog, you know how much I love Forever 21 and how they are always on-point when it comes to making the latest jewelry trends (among other things) available to the masses.
Well, lately I've noticed a lot of tribal and native american inspired jewelry, so I figured I'd round them up and show you my favorites --

Gap, Inc. is doing their Give & Get Program again -- for 4 days only, from March 18th-21st, you can take 30% off .... and you can use the coupon as many times as you want during the 4-day period, at both Gap, Old Navy, and Banana Republic. Plus, when you pick a charity, they'll give 5% of your purchases back to that cause.
Click here to print the barcode, which is for multiple uses, or click the link to pick your non-profit and then sign in using your Gap account to send the same coupon to your friends.
LOFT is taking 30% off your full-priced purchase in stores this weekend.
I am in love with their dresses as of late (especially this one) so personally I'd stock up on those for your spring work wardrobe.
DSW is taking $10 off your full-priced order when you enter code MARCH10 at checkout. Offer is valid online only, and it ends March 15th.
They're also offering free shipping with a $35 purchase when you enter code SPRSHP at checkout -- but only if you join their rewards program ... which is very rewarding.
I recently blogged about how I've already ordered my first pairs of sandals for the season -- so, if you haven't started looking yet, and you're in search of a great deal, you should know that Endless.com has an entire collection of flat sandals for under $70.
This metallic Dolce Vita number is especially cute --

J. Crew is offering free shipping on orders of $150 or more when you enter code SPRING at checkout... and in other news, I love their pants.
I was just in a J. Crew store over the weekend, and they are really bringin' it this season. And even as a Recessionista, I will tell you that one thing I am always willing to splurge a little on is J. Crew pants. They just have it down to a science.
First off, after staring at these pants for the last month, I finally broke down and bought the stretch twill Minnie Pant in black.
I also couldn't resist this new style -- the Skimmer Pant. I loved all the fun colors but went with the irish moss shade in the end because I felt they'd be the most versatile.

You know it's spring when you start thinking a lot about sandals ... well, I ordered my first two pairs of sandals for the season today, and I am praying to the almighty shoe gods that they even fit.
Why do I sound so pessimistic? Because while shoe shopping for most women is an welcome addiction -- a joyous experience that is always fun -- for me, it's usually the seventh circle of hell.
First off, many of you probably don't know a whole lot about me, so you probably don't know that I NEVER wear heels. I can't. You might say that's nonsense, and that anyone can walk in heels, but I assure you, I can't.
Not only do I have no idea how to walk in heels (which is really neither here nor there), I can't wear them because of all the problems I have with my hips. I really beat up my body playing volleyball in high school, and as a result, I already have arthritis developing in both hip joints ... they're basically deteriorating as I write this. Good times.
So, as you might imagine, comfort is paramount to me when it comes to footwear. It takes me a lot longer than the average person to find shoes that are comfortable enough for me. And as you might imagine, it makes it REALLY hard for me to find shoes that aren't totally heinous looking.
Comfort and beauty may not always go hand-in-hand, but I have been crazy impressed with Clarks for how hard they try.
Today I ordered these two really cute pairs of sandals from the Clarks store on Zappos.com --
Alright so they're no Manolos, I'm well aware of that ... but they're pretty darn cute. And they look really comfortable. Clarks really has been a bit of a shoe savior for me over the years, so I would recommend them to anyone looking for more comfort in their footwear. Great quality, too. If you've never been into one of their stores, or looked at their web site, I suggest giving them a try. They feel like butter.

For a limited time, sweaters are 20% off at J. Crew -- this offer is online only, and ends on Sunday March 7th. No code needed.
You can use it to stock up on one of my personal favorite wardrobe staples -- the Jackie Cardigan.

Real Simple has a great roundup of spring jackets on their web site, all of which cost $100 or less.
One of my favorites is this sunny yellow number from Nordstrom --
Refinery29 has done a great job rounding up 20 spring dresses, all of which cost $100 or less.
I especially love that they gave a shout out to this J. Crew number--

When going into a LOFT store location lately (in fact I just did on my lunch hour), I have been very impressed -- not only with how they've stepped up the game on their new merchandise -- but on how they've been dressing the store and dressing their mannequins. They're really doing a great job and mixing and matching pieces and putting outfits together.
So, I take note now when I see stuff like this -- Looks we love. It lets you see how their pieces work together, and also gives you ideas on how you can match their pieces with items you already have in your closet.
