Answers for Summer B

Summer B wants me to answer some questions ... and when there's an opportunity for a fun little Q&A on a rainy day, you take it :)

1) What book are you reading?
Sadly, I am not reading a book right now. The last book I read was The Fixer Upper by one of my favorite authors -- Mary Kay Andrews.

Love all of her books.

2) Where do you wish you could be right now?
If I could literally be anywhere on this craptastic weather day, I would love to go back to my favorite oasis in Cabo. Best. Vacation. Ever.

3) What does your mousepad look like?
I don't have one right now (going au naturelle) but my favorite mousepad of all time would have to be the one my bff bought me many moons ago.

...I'm doin' fine, baby-- how you doin'?

4) If you wanted to and you could quit your job without consequence, what would you say?
Fortunately, I have a job that I absolutely love.

5) How will you make your dreams come true?
I can tell you how I won't be making my dreams come true ...

6) Favorite Halloween costume ever?
When I was a little Met ... and my sister was a little Strawberry Shortcake.

(Images courtesy of NYC Recessionista)

7) Favorite song from back in the day?
Ooooh ... this is a tough one. But, if I had to pick one ...

8) One thing you could change about you?
My willpower ... can't seem to stick to an exercise plan or a diet. Ever.

Old Navy's deal of the week is that select styles of their cardigans are just $15. To tell you the truth, I wish all of their cardigans were $15 ... that'd really be impressive! Still a great deal, though.

30% off dresses at LOFT

Earlier this week, I blogged about how Ann Taylor is taking 30% off dresses. Now, their kid sister LOFT is taking 30% off their full-priced dresses, too, both in stores and online ... no code necessary.

Really, really makes me want to buy the breezy petals dress.

My Wedding Inspiration Board - March 26

I'm going shopping with a couple of my girls next weekend to look at bridesmaid dresses :) so I figured for this week's Inspiration Board, I would take a look at some of my favorites --

The 'Tyler' dress from Thread -- forget the wedding, I want this dress for myself! Love the 60s vibe.

Ditto on the 'Marilyn' ... totally gorgeous.

This dress from Lela Rose with the flower at the shoulder is just too adorable.

I absolutely love that this dress from Dessy has pockets, a preppy bateau neckline, and rosettes at the waist ... awesome.

This strapless dress from Ann Taylor is pretty new ... I really love the tiers of ruffles ... so very feminine.

The silk taffeta 'Blakely' dress from J. Crew reminds me a lot of my outfit for our engagement pictures ... and I just love how it has ruffles and still feels really preppy.

Hopefully we can find some great dresses!

Old Navy has spring sale, too

This sale and these offers are online only, and they end March 28th.

Ultra Feminine pieces at Fred Flare

Fred Flare is supposed to be the place you go for a hamburger phone or bacon band-aids ... so how is it that they continue to stock some of the most feminine, flirty clothing I've seen in a long time? It's a beautiful mystery ... here are some of my favorite pieces they've added lately:

The cropped Whitney Ruffle Blazer -- looks totally J. Crew-esque and yet it's under $60!

The floral Watercolor Tube Dress -- the flowers almost have a hint of ikat to them, no?

The gingham I Heart You Dress -- that heart-shaped cut-out is completely adorable.

The Swan Lake Mini Skirt -- reminds me of Carrie Bradshaw's ensemble from the opening sequence of SATC ...

The voile lace Mariana Dress -- I just love lace overlays and the unfinished detail at the bottom.

LOFT Loungewear is on sale

Gap Body was one of the first brands to really step it up in the loungewear department, and now much to my enjoyment, LOFT has followed suit.

I love mixing some loungewear pieces into my regular wardrobe sometimes -- it makes me feel just a little bit more comfy and cozy ... and what I love about loungewear pieces is that many of them are being designed to look dressier than they are!

Case in point, this cowl neck pullover --

So check out their loungewear line, and in case you see anything you like, their full-priced loungewear pieces are 25% off right now, no code necessary.

Spring handbag sale at eBags

If you're looking to make a handbag purchase for spring, eBags is having a sale with discounts of up to 50% off ... enjoy!

Our Save The Dates

I previously posted a little sneak preview of our Save The Date card --

(Image courtesy of NYC Recessionista and Moog8008 Designs)

Well, the finished product arrived in the mail, so we put it together with the chocolate brown envelopes we ordered from Envelope Mall and the adorable Return address labels we ordered from Tiny Prints ... and we sent them on their way!

Anyway, seeing it once we put everything together and started to assemble them, I think they looked great!

We used another one of our engagement photos on the reverse, along with the URL of our wedding web site so our guests can get more information.

I can't wait to get started on the invitations next!

Figure-flattering floral dresses . . .

... try saying that five times fast.

Real Simple is one of my favorite magazines, so naturally I love the Daily Finds on their web site -- like this collection of figure-flattering floral dresses, arranged by body type.

My favorite would of course be this 1960s-looking number from Urban Outfitters, perfect if you're busty.

We've got a china pattern!

previously blogged about some of the items we've already added to our gift registry. And at first, I was actually very much against registering for formal china. I figured, when am I ever going to use this stuff?

But the more I thought about it, and the more I pictured our life years from now, I started to realize that when it came time for my future husband & I to have our families over for the holidays, or to throw dinner parties, that we'd have no fancy dinnerware to speak of. And while I love the pattern we picked out for our everyday dishes, I know I would secretly wish for fancier dishes every time I set that table for company ...

So, my fiance and I went to Bed Bath & Beyond over the weekend, and carefully analyzed about 6 different china patterns before coming to a decision. What excited me the most was how involved my groom got in the decision-making process ... he also picked out this pattern :)

My Inspiration Board - March 19

I was a very bad wedding blogger and forgot all about my Inspiration Board last week! I'll blame it on an early case of spring fever :) Anyway, I've been scouring one of my favorite wedding resources, Etsy, for the perfect boutonnieres for the guys ... here are some of my favorites:

NYC Recessionista's Favorite Beauty Products

I love beauty products ... funny thing is, I am not always a bargain shopper when it comes to this stuff. I love to experiment with different things from time to time and find new favorites. And if I find something that's really good, I will splurge on it a little.

So, I thought it would be fun to give y'all a glimpse of what's actually in my medicine cabinet and what's in my shower -- you'll notice it's an interesting mix of drugstore and high-end products.

Shower Gel --

I am on my third bottle of this stuff ... the smell is intoxicating. I literally want to drink it. But I won't.

Face Products --

I know this stuff is a little on the expensive side, but I feel like nothing has ever made my skin look or feel better. I have extremely dry skin, and I love that you can search products by skin condition on Kiehl's web site.

Kiehl's Ultra Moisturizing Cream Cleanser, Supremely Gentle Eye Makeup Remover, and Ultra Facial Moisturizer

(Images courtesy of Kiehl's)

Deodorant --

I have tried several other deodorants, and this one is the only formula that keeps razor burn at bay. It's great stuff. And the smell is amazing, which is why I bought the matching body spray.

Dove Grapefruit & Lemongrass Deodorant and Body Spray

Hair Products --

I tried this on a whim one day (I had been a fan of their Skin Relief moisturizer for the wintertime) and I'm now on my second bottle. Leaves my hair silky and shiny.

With curly hair, you want to make sure your hair won't frizz the second you walk outside ... which is why I use this conditioner. It leaves my hair incredibly soft, without the poof.

I equally love their Spiral Style Curl Defining Spray Gel ... hands down makes the perfect spiral curls.

(Images courtesy of John Frieda)

Perfume --

I love all things citrusy ... you've probably noticed a pattern here already. This perfume is no exception ... it has the perfect clean scent. The main notes are lychee and pink grapefruit, so you can understand how.

Toothpaste --

This toothpaste has the greatest clean & minty taste to it ... and I love the retro-looking packaging.

Body Products --

Every time I use these two products, I instantly feel like I'm 6 years only, and I'm on line at Lemon Ice King. Simply delicious.

A month of outfits

If you're ever standing in front of your closet in the morning, wondering which pieces to pair with each other to make an interesting outfit, you might want to check out Lucky's collection of a month's worth of outfits ... great ideas to inspire you!

H&M's Garden Collection

H&M recently released images of its new Garden Collection -- it's made with environmentally adapted materials like recycled polyester, organic cotton, and organic linen.

I'm on board with the cotton and the linen, but seeing as how I didn't enjoy polyester too much the first time around, I am not so sure I'd love it in a recycled state. Will have to check this collection out in stores and really look at it and feel it ... I've become somewhat of a fabric whore lately.

If you're a regular reader of this blog, you know how much I love Forever 21 and how they are always on-point when it comes to making the latest jewelry trends (among other things) available to the masses.

Well, lately I've noticed a lot of tribal and native american inspired jewelry, so I figured I'd round them up and show you my favorites --
